Registering a Death

One of the things you need to do when your loved one dies is to register the death, preferably within five days. This is done at the Register Office that serves the area in which they passed away. For deaths that occurred in Doncaster you will use Doncaster Register Office, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU.

You will not need to make an appointment to do this as they will call you when it is your turn. If you need to call them for any reason their number is 01302 735222.

If your loved one passes away anywhere else in South Yorkshire and you would still like us to take care of the arrangements, then please contact us at any time day or night and we will advise you on what you need to do to register the death in your location.

If the Coroner is involved in ascertaining the cause of death there will be a slight delay in the issuing of any certification but the Coroner’s office will keep you informed of the progress.

The Coroner’s Office contact details, should you need them are as follows:

The Coroners Court and Office

Staff were professional and very caring when dealing with my father’s funeral. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was considered and our needs were at the forefront from beginning to end. When a funeral director tells you which bits of the conversation you might cry at, you know that they care. This is an excellent company and I would highly recommend it.

Kerry Noble

Whilst in the middle of our Bereavement, this firm and it’s staff were truly wonderful to us. The compassion, dignity and professionalism which we were given at this time was second to none. I wasn’t on ‘a budget’ but my late Dad chose everything he wanted…In other words…He just ‘wanted to go where he was going without a huge fanfare and malarky’. It all went as my Dad wanted it but what a day it was.
